Begum graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1990 and began her career in the private sector, focusing on project management. From 1992 to 2014, she held various roles at the Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASK?). She contributed actively to the Association of Municipalities of Turkey's (TBB) infrastructure commissions and the preparation of the Water Technical Terms Dictionary in collaboration with DWA. Between 2014 and 2019, she served as a Head of Department at MESK? in Mersin. In April 2020, she was appointed Deputy General Director at ?SK? in Istanbul.
