Evelyn Cortez-Davis
Evelyn Cortez-Davis, P.E., BCEE is the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Water System at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the largest municipal utility in the USA. With over 30 years of water industry experience, she oversees strategic programs, including wildfire resilience, and workforce development and supports critical local supply initiatives like Pure Water Los Angeles. In prior roles, she served as Chief of Staff for LADWP’s CEO and was the first Latina to serve as Director of Water Engineering, overseeing major infrastructure projects to supply reliable water to the 4 million people of the City of L.A. She has also served as Assistant Director of Water Operations, Assistant Director of Water Resources, and has served on various water industry boards. A first-generation immigrant from El Salvador, Evelyn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from UCLA. She is a registered Civil Engineer and Board-Certified Environmental Engineer.
